The Air Element and the Connection to the Divine

The Air Element and the Connection to the Divine

In a previous blog post, I wrote about the water element and how healing our emotions helps us free ourselves. But is it really that simple?

In my novel, I describe how sexual energy can heal us and set us free. Many believe this is pure fantasy. As a teenager, I was captivated by Margit Sandemo’s “The Legend of the Ice People.”  Her depictions of sexuality were astonishing. Years later, I remember someone claiming that such experiences don’t exist. I was speechless. Having already undergone a dearmoring process, I knew very well that it was possible. It was sad to see someone missing out on this. Not everyone has access to this energy—to the spiritual side of sexuality, the divine.

In my previous blog post, I wrote about how thoughts can create waves in the water, or emotions. While the water element reflects emotions, thoughts or the mind belong to the air element. If you are aware of your thoughts, you know how they can stir up emotions.

But what about the wind and the air element?

The Air Element

A mind without too much wind (thoughts) can be open and receptive. Thoughts actually hinder us from being open to new ideas and learning.

As mentioned, thoughts block us from receiving, from listening. They prevent us from connecting with the divine. If you do not believe in something divine, this is likely true for you. People who cling tightly to their opinions are often not open enough in their minds to receive new learning or the guidance available to them.

When we are born, we take our first breath, and when we die, the last bit of air leaves us. The spirit departs.

In my novel “Alchemy of the Hidden Spring, we gain insight into how conscious breathing connects us to the hidden spring within us—the sexual force. Have you ever noticed yourself or your partner holding their breath during intimacy? It is quite common. Just as common as laughing or crying. This is a sign that sexual energy is connecting with emotions. When you stop breathing, you block the natural flow. You miss out on the healing and release that could occur.

Instead, breathe in the pleasure of touch or the good sensations that arise. If you breathe deeply and feel your breath filling your entire body, you will move away from distracting thoughts and settle into your body with deep presence and enjoyment.

“Remember to breathe,” Elham told his young wife. “Then everything will be fine.”

And yes, that is the key to freedom. The breath. When you breathe so deeply that the Life Force, the hidden spring, is activated, incredible things can happen.

Breath and the Life force

“Have an intention to dedicate the force to,” is also said in the story.

If you set a clear intention and express it to spirit, your breath helps you connect. It happens.

But then, suddenly, thoughts arise, telling you that you cannot do it, or perhaps you don’t believe in it at all.

Sound familiar? If this happens, the solution may be to observe your thoughts.

The thoughts and emotions that surface reveal the biggest obstacle to healing your intention.

Be aware of them—perhaps that is exactly what you needed to see right now. Once you have seen them, return to your breath. Accept them. Once you recognize the obstacle, you are ready to release it while staying focused on your breath.

Through breathing and a clear mind, you can connect with your intention and have the opportunity to heal it.

Exciting?

Yes, and it is entirely real. In “Alchemy of the Hidden Spring”, you will find several examples of how this healing process unfolds. The characters heal from old traumatic wounds, and an alchemical inner transformation occurs as old dark emotions are transformed into new ones, creating a different way of living.

Sometimes, we stop breathing when difficult emotions arise. I am personally an expert at holding my breath when I get stressed. This prevents us from truly feeling what we actually experience. Sometimes, I have to remind myself to sit down and take a few deep breaths to calm down. When I am relaxed, I am much more focused and effective.

The breath is always available as a tool for presence, calmness, and connection with the deeper parts of ourselves.

What about you? Have you ever noticed how your breath affects you in intense moments? Maybe it’s time to experiment with using it more consciously?

Can healing through breath and sexual energy truly transform a person? The characters in my novel find the answer to this—and maybe you will recognize something of yourself in their journey.
